Aimee Semple McPherson's cabin.
1923
Creation of International Church of the Foursquare Gospel Church. Most of us are unaware of the early history in Foursquare. During the roaring twenties, on the west side of Lake Tahoe there is a small town called Tahoma. There was no evangelical church and the community sought out Aimee in Los Angeles to come build a Foursquare church there and they would donate the land. An entourage of 200 Model A’s & Model T’s made the 700 mile trek on a 2-lane road. Aimee inaugurated the Foursquare Church and also a LIFE Bible Institute. She held crusades and boats and trains brought thousands of people to hear her preach and her 39-piece silver band. During the depression, everything Aimee had built was lost.
2023
By God’s divine providence, this same property with Aimee’s original cabin and her beautiful stained windows came into the hands of Foursquare once again through a miracle story with Pastors Harlyn and Jeri Matson from Rocklin, CA. By mid-summer this year, a Foursquare Church will be planted again in Tahoma. (No other evangelical churches in 800,000 sq ft). God is giving dreams and visions to restore Aimee’s original vision for the property: salvation, healing, deliverance, renewal, refreshing and rest provided through a variety of modalities.
